(Bill W) August 27, 2018, Monroe, IA – Kerry Madsen, the defending Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars Presented by www.OpenWheel101.com champion, took the lead in this year’s point standings for the first time on the strength of his win on Season Championship Night at the Knoxville Raceway.  He passes Brian Brown, who suffered a mechanical setback when it looked like another mark in his win column at Knoxville on Saturday.  Madsen’s lead is only 13 points.

Kerry (four wins) now leads Brown (seven wins), 2018 KCCS 410 Track Champion Austin McCarl (five wins), Terry McCarl and Cory Eliason (one win).  Davey Heskin, Brooke Tatnell, Matt Juhl (one win), Paul Nienhiser (three wins) and Jacob Patton (two wins) round out the top ten.

There are three point eligible races over Labor Day weekend.  On Friday, the MOWA series will visit Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois.  Saturday, the IRA will hit the Plymouth Dirt Track in Wisconsin, and Sunday, the IRA will be in action again at the 141 Speedway near Francis Creek, Wisconsin.

So far, there have been nineteen different winners in the 46 races contested with the Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars presented by Open Wheel 101!
