Terry McCarl (2nd car out to time) set quick time at 15.624 seconds, the fastest time recorded this year.  The new dirt was removed this week, resulting in faster times.  Don Droud Jr. (1st car out) was second quick, followed by Ryan Anderson (3rd), Wayne Johnson (9th), Chris Walraven (7th), Jeff Mitrisin (22nd), John VanDenBerg (12th), Ricky Logan (6th), John Sernett (19th) and Mike Reinke (5th).  Greg Jones, Marty Perovich and Tyler Houseman were unable to get qualifying times in.  Kerry Madsen was serving a one week suspension and did not compete.

Heat one (started): 1. Tim St. Arnold 8s (2) 2. Randy Anderson 17G (1) 3. McCarl 24 (6) 4. Matt Moro 47 (3) 5. Sernett 91 (4) / 6. Larry Ball Jr. D1 (8) 7. Jesse Hockett 75 (7) 8. Walraven 56 (5) 9. Mark Hurd 44m (9) DNS - Tyler Houseman 50

Ra. Anderson jumped out to an early lead.  St. Arnold tracked him the distance and made his winning pass with two to go.  McCarl jumped by a smoking Moro the last corner of the last lap for third.  Ball was subbing for Jesse Giannetto who underwent some back surgery on Tuesday.

Heat two (started): 1. Jaymie Moyle 1s (2) 2. Lynton Jeffrey 10 (1) 3. Reinke 02 (4) 4. Clint Garner 40 (3) 5. Colin Northway 60 (7) / 6. Chad Meyer 1w (8) 7. Droud 83 (6) 8. Mitrisin 5J (5) 9. Robert Bell 71 (9)

Moyle led flag to flag.  The best racing occured for the final transfer.  Droud held it until Northway nearly took him out with a slide job that made heavy contact.  Meyer used the low groove to come on late, but fell just short of Northway.

Heat three (started): 1. Skip Jackson 2 (2) 2. Brian Brown R19 (3) 3. Billy Alley 22 (4) 4. Ry. Anderson 71R (6) 5. Jon Agan 4 (7) / 6. Jeff Johnson 11J (1) 7. Mike Moore 69 (8) 8. VanDenBerg v10 (5) DNS - Greg Jones 35

Jackson led early before VanDenBerg came to a stop bringing out a caution.  He went pitside.  On the restart, Jackson led Brown, the chaffeur of the night in the Carnahan R19, Je. Johnson, Alley and Ry. Anderson.  Agan missed the invert in qualifying, but made up for it by gaining a transfer.  The best racing came between he and Ry. Anderson.

Heat four (started): 1. Calvin Landis 70 (2) 2. Logan 7x (5) 3. W. Johnson 14AJ (6) 4. Manny Rockhold 02x (1) 5. Brent Antill 1 (6) / 6. Travis Cram 92 (7) 7. Kaley Gharst 44G (8) 8. Jason Johnson 50D (3) DNS - Marty Perovich 17

This was the most action-packed heat of the night.  Rockhold led early before being overtaken by Landis on lap three.  Ja. Johnson followed him by while Logan, W. Johnson, Antill and Cram struggled for transfer spots.  Exchanging positions several times, Logan moved into third by crowding Antill into the backstretch fence.  Antill began to move backwards, but a lap seven caution for Ja. Johnson, who lost his right rear tire over the turn four fence, gave him new life.  On the restart, Landis now led Rockhold, Logan, Cram and W. Johnson, while Antill and Gharst were out of the transfer spots.  Antill reloaded on the bottom the last two laps to follow W. Johnson by the points leader Cram to make the cut.

B main (started): 1. VanDenBerg (4) 2. Hockett (7) 3. Ja. Johnson (5) 4. Mitrisin (3) 5. Cram (8) / 6. Droud (1) 7. Meyer (10) 8. Walraven (2) 9. Ball (9) 10. Gharst (12) 11. Je. Johnson (6) 12. Perovich (16) 13. Jones (15) 14. Bell (14) 15. Moore (11) 16. Hurd (13) DNS - Houseman

Ja. Johnson shot around the first two rows for an impressive early lead.  VanDenBerg was in hot pursuit and took the point on lap seven.  Another lap passed in the 12 lapper before hurd got upside down hard in turn four.  He was unhurt, but done.  On the restart VanDenBerg led Ja. Johnson, Mitrisin, Droud and a surging Hockett who had a pass for fourth negated by the yellow.  The "Rocket" used the low groove to fly by Droud Mitrisin, and Ja. Johnson in the final laps to take an impressive second.

A main (started): 1. McCarl (6) 2. W. Johnson (4) 3. Reinke (1) 4. Brown (11) 5. Jackson (14) 6. Alley (7) 7. Logan (3) 8. Moro (9) 9. Landis (11) 10. Garner (10) 11. St. Arnold (12) 12. Sernett (2) 13. Mitrisin (24) 14. Antill (8) 15. Hockett (22) 16. Cram (21) 17. VanDenBerg (19) 18. Jeffrey (17) 19. Agan (20) 20. Moyle (13) 21. Northway (23) 22. Ra. Anderson (16) 23. Rockhold (18) 24. Ry. Anderson (5) DNS - Ja. Johnson

Northway started at the rear after changing a tire from his heat race.  Ja. Johnson was unable to start and was replace by Cram, who received no points for the feature as an alternate.  Reinke jumped to the cushion for the early advantage with W. Johnson and McCarl in tow.  Once McCarl took command in traffic on lap eight, he checked out on the field in the non-stop twenty lapper.  Reinke and W. Johnson were left behind to battle for second in a good race through traffic.  In the end, W. Johnson had the faster machine and nailed down his third consecutive runner-up finish.  Jackson again charged through the field, moving up nine spots, while Mitrisin earned $300 as the hard-charger moving up 11 spots.  McCarl took home $3000 and a side of beef for his 40th career Knoxville win, moving him out of a tie with Sammy Swindell and into sole possession of fifth on the all-time winner's list.

Vanderploeg led the distance.  Great racing between Beaver and Jobe for fourth.  The exchanged the spot twice before Beaver took command and moved past Schulz as well.  A white flag incident ended the race.  As York slowed and was turning into the pits on the backstretch, Smith tried to duck under him, ran over his left front and flipped.  He was uninjured.

Van Haaften's top wing collapsed and he came to a stop bringing out a caution immediately.  Under caution, Heskin got over Meyer's left rear, causing wing damage to both cars.  Heskin went pitside, while Meyer struggled on.  Higday took an early advantage while Mather began to gain on the leader.  Meyer's left rear gave in and flattened on lap four.  D. Hall, thinking there was a red flag, shut his car down, surrendering third and a sure transfer to the A.  He restarted at the tail.  Lowe, from Medford, OR, also retired on lap four.  Higday led the rest of the way after a good battle with Mather.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Jake Peters 57x (4*) 2. John Hall 7H (3*) 3. Stevie Walsh 20 (2*) 4. Johnny Anderson 7a (6*) 5. Mike Trent 14c (9) 6. Pete Crall 11 (5) 7. Mitchell Alexander 6 (7) 8. Rager Phillips 9 (8) 9. Justin Parrish 4G (10) DNS - Frankie Heimbaugh 04 (1)

C main (started): 1. Phillips (1) 2. York (5) 3. Heskin (3) / 4. Schneiderman (2) 5. Parrish (4) 6. Van Haaften (6) DNS - Zoutte, Heimbaugh, Smith, Thorson

Phillips and York were the class of the field and separated themselves, despite a lap three spin by Van Haaften.

B main (started): 1. Crabb (2) 2. Trent (1) 3. Maeschen (7) 4. Golik (5) / 5. D. Hall (6) 6. M. Alexander (11) 7. T. Alexander (4) 8. York (16) 9. Jamison (8) 10. Phillips (17) 11. Mason (10) 12. Houseman Jr. performed a 360 spin in front of the field, collecting Crall and Steward.  Crall and Houseman Jr. retired.  On the restart, Meyer flipped hard.  He was uninjured.  Once underway, Trent took to the point with Crabb behind him.  Crabb took the lead on the low side on the second circuit and carried it to the checkered flag.  Trent had a nice battle with young Maeschen, who was one to watch, moving up through the pack.

A main (started): 1. Peters (6) 2. Higday (3) 3. Hesmer (1) 4. Kearney (5) 5. S. Alexander (14) 6. Mather (2) 7. J. Anderson (13) 8. Vanderploeg (4) 9. Schulz (15) 10. Beaver (9) 11. Houseman (7) 12. Hesmer jumped out from his pole position, with Peters close behind.  On lap two, the pair raced side by side exchanging the lead.  Peters gained the point at the flagstand and set sail.  The bottom was getting faster and S. Alexander and J. Anderson were taking advantage of their familiar haunt down low.  Peters was burning through lapped traffic on lap 13 of 15, when Trent lost his left front wheel and banged the turn two wall, bringing a caution.  Peters led Hesmer, Higday, Vanderploeg and Mather back for the green, white, checker finish.  The last two laps saw a pass by Higday for second, and surges by Kearney and S. Alexander, who earned $100 for being the hard-charger.  For his third career Knoxville win, Peters was rewarded with pork and pulled closer to Kearney in the points race.
