Heat one (started, *qualified for A): 1. Ricky Logan 17G (5*) 2. John Bridgeford 8 (2*) 3. Chad Radel 25 (4*) 4. Chuck McGillivray 101 (3*) 5. Micah Schliemann 9m (10*) 6. Brian Brown 6 (9*) 7. John Egeland 26 (6) 8. Jason Linnell 22 (6) 9. Wade Nygaard 9 (8) 10. Ryan Voss 2H (7)

Heat starting spots were drawn for with passing points qualifying the top 18 for the feature. The top ten would enter a poker game dealt by “Fast Draw McCain” to determine their feature starting spot. The initial start saw Brown get together with Voss, resulting in Voss’s front wing being ripped off. Bridgeford led early before a caution on lap four of ten for Voss who stopped on the frontstretch and exited. At the time, Bridgeford led Radel, Logan, McGillivray and Nygaard back to the green. Logan made a move on Radel and then passed Bridgeford for the lead on lap six. He pulled away in dominating fashion after that point. Nygaard’s fine run came to a halt when he exited with broken plug wires on lap seven.

Heat two (started, *qualified for A): 1. Colin Northway 60 (1*) 2. Jake Peters 57x (2*) 3. Brad Pake 64 (3*) 4. Eric Vanderploeg 57a (7*) 5. Jim Smith 33 (9*) 6. Mike Moore 69 (8*) 7. Randy Rosenboom 14 (10) 8. Bob Martin 10TR (4) 9. Dave Sobczak 17 (5) 10. Derek Beckman 50D (6)

Beckman flipped down the frontstretch after contact with someone’s right rear and made heavy contact with the turn one wall at the outset. Scary moments as Derek was air lifted from the speedway. Thankfully, it looks like he will make a speedy recovery from a severe concussion. The restart saw the race go non-stop. Northway left the rest behind in leading the distance. Peters and Pake battled for second throughout, with Pake coming a few feet short of second at the checkered. Sobczak retired on lap two.

Heat three (started, *qualified for A): 1. Terry McCarl 24 (3*) 2. Gary Dewall 16 (1*) 3. Mark Dobmeier 13 (2*) 4. Clint Garner 55 (8*) 5. Lynton Jeffrey 4K (6*) 6. Justin Henderson R19 (7*) 7. Chris Shirek 1 (4) 8. Robert Bell 71 (5) 9. John Lambertz 12L (9)

Another non-stop heat. Dewall led the pack and appeared to have victory in hand. McCarl got by Dobmeier and then rested on Dewall’s bumper with two to go. In dramatic fashion, he made the pass above the cushion for the win on the final circuit. Henderson passed Shirek in the last corner to avoid a run in the B main.

In the poker game, Radel’s pair of Kings beat McCarl’s pair of Queens but the two would start on the front row ahead of Dewall and Peters.

B main (started): 1. Nygaard (6) 2. Linnell (5) 3. Shirek (3) 4. Bell (4) 5. Rosenboom (2) 6. Sobczak (8) / 7. Lambertz (7) 8. Egeland (1) DNS – Voss, Martin, Beckman

Nygaard made a charge from row three early to trail Shirek who took the early advantage. Egeland was running in the top three on the second lap when he veered into the frontstretch wall, flipped wildly and had his car erupt in a ball of flame. Safety crews were quick to extinguish the blaze and Egeland emerged unscathed. Nygaard rode the rim around Shirek on the restart and pulled away until Sobczak spun while battling for the final transfer with Lambertz. Lambertz’s attempt to lock down the final transfer was foiled by Sobczak in the fourth turn coming to the checkered.

A main (started): 1. McCarl (2) 2. Garner (6) 3. Henderson (18) 4. Jeffrey (16) 5. Nygaard (19) 6. Schliemann (12) 7. Brown (15) 8. Peters (4) 9. Dewall (3) 10. Northway (10) 11. Sobczak (24) 12. Bridgeford (8) 13. Shirek (21) 14. Rosenboom (23) 15. Radel (1) 16. Pake (5) 17. Vanderploeg (9) 18. McGillivray (14) 19. Bell (22) 20. Dobmeier (11) 21. Moore (17) 22. Logan (7) 23. Smith (13) 24. Linnell (20)

McCarl shot out to an early advantage and led until lap three when Smith flipped in turn two. Logan exited at that time with mechanical problems. On the restart, Brown was sent to the back for a restart jump. As McCarl led Peters, Radel, Pake and Dewall back to the green, five more cars were eliminated with Dobmeier getting upside down after a tangle. Also suffering too much damage to continue were Vanderploeg, McGillivray, Bell and Moore. McCarl led five more laps before Pake blew his powerplant while running third. Now McCarl led Peters, Garner, Radel, and Henderson (from 18th) back to green. It appeared like McCarl would not be challenged, but Peters started reeling him in in lapped traffic. As he was getting into a position to challenge for his second feature win of the night on lap 28, he tangled with the lapped machine of Dewall, sending him into a spin. Peters would recover to come home eighth. McCarl would lead the rest of the 30 lapper to claim the $5000 prize. Just 14 cars were running at the checkered flag. Henderson was the hard-charger moving up 15 spots, while Jeffrey, Nygaard and Sobczak all moved forward at least 12 positions.

360s

Heat one (started): 1. Brent Vonk 21V (2) 2. Troy Meyer 17v (4) 3. Doug Martens 51 (1) 4. Steve Ballenger 3D (6) 5. Mitch Runge 28 (3) 6. John Miller 24m (5)

Vonk led flag to flag. Meyer made his pass of Martens in turn four on the last lap. Steve Ballenger was subbing for his son Dusty who was racing in Jackson.

Heat two (started): 1. Butch Hanssen 8K (4) 2. Dusty Zomer 1 (3) 3. Brad Nelson 47 (6) 4. Jake Peters 57x (5) 5. Brandon Rokusek 42w (1) 6. Cody Hansen 4 (7) 7. Ryan Bickett 17B (2)

Hanssen shot around the front row and went on to win. Bickett lost his driveshaft on lap two, bringing caution.

Heat three (started): 1. Randy Droescher 24 (2) 2. Terry Reilly 69H (4) 3. Brock Dump 12 (3) 4. Joe Reidel 11JR (1) 5. Eric McGillivray 35 ( for 77) (5) 6. Brian Baker 25 (6) 7. Dan Goosman 29 (for 55) (7)

Droescher took the lead from Reidel on lap two and roared to victory.

A main (started): 1. Peters (10) 2. Dump (8) 3. Martens (1) 4. Zomer (7) 5. Vonk (4) 6. Runge (6) 7. Meyer (9) 8. Miller (16) 9. Reidel (3) 10. Ballenger (14) 11. Baker (18) 12. Rokusek (2) 13. Goosman (19) 14. Hansen (17) 15. Nelson (15) 16. McGillivray (14) 17. Droescher (5) 18. Hanssen (11) 19. Reilly (12) DNS – Bickett

The first ten laps of 18, had arguably the best racing of the night. Martens shot out to an early advantage, but eyes were on Peters, Hanssen and Reilly as they were surging towards the front. Runge and Dump were also making bonsai moves in traffic in an attempt to catch the leaders. Lap ten opened up the track for the leaders when Reilly got into the backstretch wall and collected Hanssen. Both suffered damage and were done. Martens led Vonk, Dump, Runge and Peters back to the green. McGillivray flipped on the restart, but walked back to the infield under his own power. Dump hunted down Martens and took the point from him two laps later. The son of Rick would lead until Peters made a pass in dramatic fashion on turn four. When Dump went to the low side, Peters rode the rim around him for the win. Peters was also the hard-charger in the event.
