Kerry Madsen dominated the WSS field in Perth Friday (Perth Motorplex PR)Kerry Madsen dominated the WSS field in Perth Friday (Perth Motorplex PR) (Perth Motorplex PR) IF you weren’t at the Perth Motorplex on Friday night you missed out on a stellar drive by Kerry Madsen in the World Series Sprintcars feature race.

The three-time Australian champion, who jetted back in from America this week, put on a clinic, thumping the rest of the field and being more than nine seconds ahead of second placed Jamie Veal from Victoria and local ace Jason Kendrick.

Madsen started from pole position and enjoyed complete dominance for the 30-laps, staying in front of the countless duels between his rivals right throughout the pack.

The good news is you can see Madsen and 27 other drivers back in action at the Perth Motorplex tonight for the Grand Final of the WSS championship.

Madsen is not in title contention but will be intent on maintaining his stranglehold over the opposition that started with the quickest time in qualifying, some solid heat race races and the quickest time in the Gold Dash.

On a balmy summer’s evening racefans were treated to some of the best sprintcar racing we have seen at the Motorplex this summer, setting the scene for a big Saturday night of racing.
James McFadden, who finished fourth, heads into the series decider ahead of Veal and should wrap up the championship, but stranger things have happened in sprintcar racng.

The younger of the two Madsens – Ian – also jetted back in from America this week for this show – and he started 12th and finished sixth – making him another driver to watch on Saturday night.

Other big guns such as Brooke Tatnell (seventh) and Steven Lines (eighth) will be seeking redemption tonight.

The same could be said for the local stars who showed glimpses of brilliance but had their colours lowered by the visiting drivers.

Saturday night’s racing also features another round of the Formula 500s and the two-wheel daredevils who are part of the Freestyle Motocross exhibition.

If you thought the racing was red-hot last night – you ain’t seen nothing yet and you need to be trackside for this one.
