Sprint Invaders

25 cars

Heat one (started): 1. Terry McCarl 24 (1) 2. Matt Rogerson 22 (2) 3. Matt Sutton 3 (4) 4. Nick Eastin 25 (3) / 5. John VanDenBerg V10 (6) 6. Jon Agan 4 (7) 7. Dustin Whiting 1 (5) 8. Justin Newberry 36 (8) DNS - Matt Harms 53H

Heats were eight laps, and took the top two to the shake-up dash. The top four qualified for the A. McCarl smoked the field after drawing the lowest pill. Newberry dropped out on lap three. The rookie, Eastin, was impressive and worked hard on Sutton, but couldn't quite get by him.

Heat two (started): 1. Jerrod Hull 50 (3) 2. Charlie Gilpin Jr. 9G (1) 3. Bobby Hawks 5H (6) 4. Eric Vanderploeg 57a (2) / 5. Chris Urish 77u (4) 6. Bobby Mincer 15 (5) 7. Jeff Nehring 9 (8) 8. Josh Schneiderman 49 (7)

Hull was impressive and took the lead for good from Gilpin on lap three. Hawks tried everything he had to pass Gilpin for a dash spot, but couldn't get around him on what sounded like an ailing motor. Vanderploeg recovered after a first lap where he was smacked by Gilpin into the turn one wall, and lost several spots.

Heat three (started): 1. Ryan Jamison 51J (2) 2. Tyson Hart 5H (6) 3. Donnie Steward 16s (7) 4. Jim Davies 99 (4) / 5. Scott Boles 4B (1) 6. Steve Wares 10 (5) 7. John Schulz (3) DNS - Brian Hetrick 35

Hetrick could not start, after coming to a stop on the track in hot laps. Schulz was black-flagged for jumping on the initial start. He then exited after making heavy contact with the turn two berm. Jamison led the distance, while Hart was putting on a charge past four cars. Steward came from the back to claim third on the last lap from Davies. The former motocross competitor continues to impress in the sprint ranks.

B main (started): 1. VanDenBerg (1) 2. Mincer (5) 3. Urish (2) 4. Agan (4) 5. Whiting (7) 6. Schulz (9) 7. Nehring (8) 8. Boles (3) / 9. Wares (6) 10. Schneiderman (11) 11. Harms (10) DNS - Newberry, Hetrick

Mincer was blacked for a jump on the initial start. This set up his impressive tail to second place run possible. Urish led before a lap three caution for Harms who got into the turn three tires, suffered heavy front end damage, and retired. Urish led with VanDenBerg in tow until lap 11 of the 12 lapper, when Schneiderman made contact with the frontstretch wall and lost a driveshaft. At the time, Urish was leading VanDenBerg, Mincer and Agan. VanDenBerg made his pass on the restart, and Mincer passed Urish one lap later. Boles got by Wares who had passed him on the final circuit for the last transfer.

Shake-up Dash (started): 1. McCarl (1) 2. Hull (2) 3. Hart (6) 4. Jamison (3) 5. Gilpin (5) 6. Rogerson (4)

Again McCarl would not be challenged. Gilpin and Rogerson were racing hard for fifth. McCarl drew a five pill putting him in the third row inside for the A main. Hart was again impressive riding the cushion.

A main (started): 1. McCarl (5) 2. Jamison (2) 3. Hull (6) 4. Steward (9) 5. Hawks (8) 6. Hart (1) 7. Mincer (14) 8. Urish (15) 9. Rogerson (4) 10. Sutton (7) 11. VanDenBerg (13) 12. Agan (16) 13. Nehring (19) 14. Schulz (18) 15. Davies (12) 16. Gilpin (3) 17. Eastin (10) 18. Boles (20) 19. Whiting (17) 20. Vanderploeg (11)

Jamison jumped out to the early lead, as McCarl and Hull quickly disposed of second row starters, Rogerson and Gilpin. Lap five saw Eastin and Mincer make contact, sending Eastin into a spin which collected Vanderploeg, bringing out the only caution of the event. Vanderploeg's front end damage was enough to send him pitside. The restart saw Jamison leading Hull, McCarl, Hawks and Hart. Once back underway, McCarl worked his way around Hull and took the lead for good on lap eight of the 25 lapper for his 13th win of the season. Steward made a strong move in the last five laps, getting by both Hart and then Hawks for fourth. Hard-charger honors were shared by Mincer and Urish who both finished seven spots ahead of their starting positions.
