Danny Lasoski (21st car to time) had quick time on a fast track with a lap of 15.020 seconds.  Stevie Smith (32nd) was second quick, followed by Steve Kinser (9th), Tim Shaffer (52nd), Daryn Pittman (6th), Joey Saldana (33rd), Terry McCarl (23rd), Jac Haudenschild (17th), Randy Hannagan (2nd) and Kerry Madsen (51st).  Randy Anderson had oil problems in hot laps and went to a back-up car for qualifications.  Johnny Herrera missed his qualifying spot and took a lap at the end.

Moore surrendered his row two starting position while changing a motor.  Haudenschild led every lap.  Murcott spun on lap six, suffering from a flat right front tire.  On the restart, Pinegar got huge air on the backstretch and took a hard flip, but walked away uninjured.  Jackson and Henderson battled with the latter on the low side.  Jackson was gaining on Haudenschild towards the end, but ran out of time.

S. Smith and Landis, who ran really strong battled hard for third.  Agan went up in smoke coming for the finish line.  He was done for the night.

Heat three (started): 1. Craig Dollansky 7 (4) 2. S. Kinser 11 (6) 3. Mike Reinke 17x (1) 4. Mark Kinser 5m (3) 5. Brad Furr 2 (2) / 6. Don Droud Jr. 55 (7) 7. Saldana 17 (5) 8. Dollansky  dominated while S. Kinser got by Reinke with a last corner pass.  Reinke looked strong in his first race at Knoxville with new car owner, Ed Gifford.  A lone yellow came early when Ryan Anderson spun.

McMahan led flag to flag.  Mitrisin looked very impressive, riding strong against the cushion.

Herrera had a dominating performance while Lambertz and Giannetto battled for the final transfer.  Lambertz ended up spinning on lap five, ending his bid.  Hunter coasted across the finish line without power.

Madsen drove around M. Kinser and stretched his lead to take the popular win.  Lasoski drew a six for the inverts in the dashes.

Wood led flag to flag, while Shaffer passed Logan on the last lap for third.

B feature (started): 1. Saldana (1) 2. McCarl (2) 3. Hannagan (3) 4. Droud (7) / 5. Tatnell (13) 6. Herrera (17) 7. Northway (8) 8. Ball (5) 9. Rockhold (9) 10. Cram (11) 11. Giannetto (16)  12. Saldana led the distance, but McCarl was right on his heels.  Droud's fortune came when D. Moore's motor had problems while he was running third on lap nine.  VanDenBerg had to go pitside with a broken brake caliper.

Mitrisin looked good early, but ended up spinning in turn two.  He exited after several cars made contact.  Wood's motor went up on lap eight.  Henderson, Landis and Droud all dropped out early.  The hard-charger was Donny Schatz.  Dollansky looked to be heading for a big win until he suffered a fuel system problem while leading on lap four.  He restarted at the rear and stormed to finish twelfth.  At the restart for Dollansky, the leader was Madsen but S. Kinser put him behind.  Madsen still ran a strong race, finishing fifth.  The top four finishers were bunched up at the end on the racy surface.  Landis and Droud both exited early.
