I am not sure which was better last night as Coors Light and the Nebraska Lottery presented the Eagle Shootout at Eagle Raceway. Was it the perfect weather, or was it the fantastic racing as all 5 classes competed for one final time to determine who would be crowned the points champions? My vote would be for both of those as they made for a fitting finale to a great season!!!
Luckily, there were no significant problems in the preliminary racing.
The last A Feature was for the Duros Dent Works IMCA Racesaver Sprint Cars. The initial start was called back when Boyd Peterson’s 57B and the 10D of Dan
Nekolite made contact in turn 4 with Nekolite spinning out. After a complete restart Toby Chapman put the 7 out front of the first official lap with Brandon Horton’s 1B, Peterson and Chase Weiler’s 0 rounding out the top 4. Weiler passed Peterson for third on lap 3. Shayle Helget put the 03 into fourth on lap 7 as Weiler advanced to second. Tyler Drueke cracked the top 4 the next time around in the #12. Joey Danley’s #14 slowed the next lap to bring out a caution. At that time, the top 4 were Chapman, Weiler, Horton and Drueke. A lap after the restart Horton got past Weiler for second. There were 14 laps remaining when Drueke began his march to the front, advancing to third and then taking the second spot a lap later. Weiler moved back to third with 10 to go but lost the spot back to Horton 5 laps later. Trevor Grossenbacher put the #22 into fourth the next time around. Drueke used the high line to pass Chapman with just 3 laps left and held on for the win. The top 4 were Drueke, Chapman, Horton and Grossenbacher. Despite missing a transfer spot from the B Feature by inches, Adam Gullion managed to rack up enough points in the B to finally claim his very first points championship.
