Kerry Madsen (Chuck Stowe Photo)Kerry Madsen (Chuck Stowe Photo) (Bill W) October 28, 2020, Monroe, IA – Kerry Madsen of St. Mary’s, New South Wales, Australia, cemented his fourth straight championship in the Midwest Thunder Sprints Series presented by OpenWheel101.com.  Madsen’s final point total gave him the big cash prize, and put him 99 in front of Hartland, Wisconsin’s Bill Balog in the final rundown.

Despite the pandemic, the series encompassed 55 events at 22 tracks in nine states.  There were 14 different winners, led by Kyle Larson (11), Bill Balog (9), Brad Sweet (6), Paul Nienhiser (4), Brian Brown (3) and Rico Abreu (3).  Cory Eliason and Aaron Reutzel won twice, while Shane Stewart, Hunter Schuerenberg, Jake Blackhurst, James McFadden, Justin Henderson, Brooke Tatnell and Carson Short were also victorious.  There were 153 non-World of Outlaws participants who earned points.

Sponsorship of the point fund in 2020 came from race fan Jim Harris, Hoseheads.com, race fan Gregg Anderson, The Dirt Racing Podcast, The Podium Awards of Newport, Pennsylvania and other anonymous donors.
