Armed Forces Night, presented by Twin Rivers and Empire Fence saw a chilly and windy afternoon keeping the fan count down at Eagle Raceway Saturday night, but those who didn’t come missed out on seeing 140 teams going 3 and 4-wide during the heats and preliminary features.
There were no significant incidents in any of the races..
The final A Feature of the night was for the Twin Rivers IMCA Racesaver Sprints. Derek Kral’s 85, the 15V of Cole Vanderheiden, Gene Ackland in the 14G and the 03 of Shayle Bade led the first circuit. Bade moved up to third on lap 2 but lost the spot back to Ackland the next time around. There were 13 circuits remaining when Jason Danley passed Bade for fourth in the 4X, advancing to third with 8 to go. Bade again moved to fourth the next lap. Danley advanced to second with 7 to go and Bade got up to third the following circuit. Danley snagged the lead with 5 to go. The next lap Brandon Horton spun the 1B in turn 2 for the final caution of the night. Stu Snyder jumped up to third on the restart and advanced to second the next time around with Ackland retaking fourth. The final top 4 were Danley, Snyder, Kral and Ackland.
Tonight was Jason’s first win of the 2022 season. I asked Jason how long he had been racing and was told “I think this is my 35th season racing sprints. I started in 1988. It feels good to get the monkey off of my back. It’s been a rough start but hopefully we’ve finally got this thing figured out and we can start going forward again. I can’t thank my crew enough for their hard work trying to make this car go because they never give up”.
Jason’s sponsors include Climatech Heating and Air, Speedway Engines and Speedway shocks.
