The Spoon never disappoints when it’s Tom Knowles Memorial time. The high banks again lent to great racing in both classes and crazy high-speed games of chicken for the midgets. Sean Buckley and MavTV are missing out on this one for sure!

Sprints

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Parker Price-Miller 9P (1*) 2. Jim Moughan Jr. 1m (9*) 3. Joey Moughan 21x (6*) 4. AJ Bruns 2 (4) 5. Terry Babb 88 (7*) 6. Andy Baugh 6B (8) 7. Levi Curry 25 (5) 8. Tommy Rockwell 95 (3) 9. Zach Daum 5D (2)

Price-Miller led the 10-lap distance and won going away, but Jim Moughan was on the move from the tail. He’d take third after a lap three restart for Daum, who was suffering mechanical difficulties, and he moved into second coming for the white flag. Bruns was driving Scott Ritchhart’s #2 and you could throw a blanket over he and Joey Moughan most of the way.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Jimmy Hurley 35 (3*) 2. Jerrod Hull 12 (4*) 3. Robbie Standridge 99 (7*) 4. Ryan Bunton 7K (2) 5. Jake Blackhurst 25B (8*) 6. Seth Motsinger 44 (6) 7. Jeremy Standridge 10s (5) 8. Vinny Ward 82 (1)
Motsinger spun before a lap could be completed. On the second try, Ward was tagged from behind and spun as well. Hurley took the early lead and won going away. Hull moved by Bunton for second on lap two, and Standridge came from row four to take over third on lap three.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Rico Abreu 24 (8*) 2. Chris Urish 77u (5*) 3. Korey Weyant 99w (4*) 4. Logan Faucon 52F (6*) 5. Matt Harms 53H (1) 6. Trent Beckinger 75 (2) 7. Austin Brown 7 (7) 8. Russ Hall 83 (3)

Hall broke a rear axle, luckily before he was up to speed, and was done for the night in the Northrop car. Brown also came to a stop before a lap could be completed. Urish took the early lead over Harms and Abreu, who advanced from row three. Abreu moved into second on lap two, and Weyant to third. The caution flew on lap five when Brown got over the top of three and four. Weyant shot under Abreu on the restart, but two laps later, Rico stomred back into second. Coming for the white flag, he would fin his way around Urish for the win.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Danny Lasoski 33 (1*) 2. Paul Nienhiser 9 (6*) 3. Patrick Haynes 5H (7*) 4. Bret Tripplett 22 (8*) 5. Tyler Courtney 23c (5) 6. Rob Kubli 23K (2) 7. Ben Wagoner 84 (3) 8. Cory Bruns 17m (4)

Lasoski led the distance. One caution flew when Cory Bruns, who was in Joey Moughan’s 17m broke a front end on lap three. Nienhiser would restart third, and get by Wagoner for second on lap five. Haynes would surge from sixth to third after the restart.

Dash (started): 1. Rico Abreu (1) 2. Jim Moughan Jr. (2) 3. Jimmy Hurley (4) 4. Paul Nienhiser (3) 5. Danny Lasoski (6) 6. Parker Price-Miller (5)

Rico rode the rim to the 6-lap win. Moughan was cruising low as drivers checked out different parts of the wide high-banked 3/8 for the feature.

B main one (started): 1. AJ Bruns (1) 2. Andy Baugh (2) / 3. Trent Beckinger (4) 4. Zach Daum (7) 5. Matt Harms (3) 6. Austin Brown (5) 7. Jeremy Standridge (6) DNS – Cory Bruns, Russ Hall

Bruns led from start to finish in the 10-lapper. Daum showed some speed late, but his hole was dug too deep.

B main two (started): 1. Ryan Bunton (1) 2. Tyler Courtney (2) / 3. Ben Wagoner (6) 4. Seth Motsinger (3) 5. Tommy Rockwell (7) 6. Rob Kubli (4) 7. Levi Curry (5) DNS – Vinny Ward

Bunton and Courtney pulled away to earn the transfers.

A main (started): 1. Rico Abreu (1) 2. Jimmy Hurley (3) 3. Parker Price-Miller (6) 4. Jake Blackhurst (15) 5. Ryan Bunton (18) 6. Jim Moughan Jr. (2) 7. Danny Lasoski (5) 8. Chris Urish (7) 9. Robbie Standridge (8) 10. Joey Moughan (11) 11. Jerrod Hull (10) 12. Korey Weyant (13) 13. Tyler Courtney (20) 14. Bret Tripplett (12) 15. Andy Baugh (19) 16. Patrick Haynes (9) 17. Terry Babb (16) 18. Logan Faucon (14) 19. Paul Nienhiser (4) 20. AJ Bruns (17)

Haynes and Bruns contacted with Bruns suffering too much damage to continue before a lap could be completed. Abreu led Jim Moughan and Nienhiser on the first lap of the 25-lapper. Jim would take the lead and pull away a bit on lap two, using the middle of the track. Faucon came to a stop with five laps in the books. Nienhiser pulled off from third with motor issues. Jim Moughan led Rico, Price-Miller, Lasoski, and Hurley on the restart. One more lap was in the books before Blackhurst spun. On the ensuing restart, Lasoski shot up to third. Abreu went to work and got by Moughan for the lead on lap ten. Two laps later, Babb slowed and brought a caution. The yellow flag negated a Lasoski pass for second. Unfortunately for him, he did make the pass before the cone on the restart, and was sent to the tail. Hurley assumed third. Contact with another car sent Haynes spinning with 18 laps in bringing the final caution. Abreu led Jim Moughan, Hurley, Price-Miller and Urish on the restart. Using the low side of the track, Hurley worked by Moughan for second on lap 20. Price-Miller was pounding the upper-most confines and shot around Moughan for third on lap 21. Despite being faster than Hurley, who was washing up the track on the straights, he couldn’t grab second. It was Rico’s second MOWA win of the season.

Midgets

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Darren Hagen 56 (4*) 2. Zach Daum 5D (3*) 3. Rico Abreu 97 (7*) 4. Terry Babb 88 (6*) 5. Dave Camfield Jr. 86c (1) 6. Andy Baugh 6B (5) 7. Jay Mounce 12J (2)

The stoutest midget head of the night saw Daum pound the cushion for the early lead in the 8-lapper over Hagen and Camfield Jr. Abreu started tail and was third by the second lap. Hagen and Daum proceeded to go to war, trading sliders and exchanging the lead three times, before Hagen took it for good on lap five.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Justin Peck 5x (1*) 2. Tyler Thomas 91T (2*) 3. Seth Motsinger 2 (4*) 4. Ryan Criswell 11R (5*) 5. Dave McKay 3D (3) 6. Shane Morgan 15m (6) DNS – Dave Camfield III 16c

Peck led the distance. The best race was for third between Motsinger, who grabbed in on lap three from Criswell. Camfield III jumped the ramp that is turn two in hot laps, flipping two full times, but landed on his wheels. He would return for the B.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Andrew Felker 11A (5*) 2. Spencer Bayston 39 (7*) 3. Dalton Camfield 87 (2*) 4. Nick Bailey 89 (4*) 5. Cole Wood 17w (6*) 6. Colten Cottle 5c (1) 7. Robbie Ray 3 (3)

Cottle led early. Ray took second from Bailey on lap two. Wood spun while running fourth with two laps in the books after tapping Bailey. Felker shot from fourth to second on the start. More contact with Bailey sent Wood spinning with five laps in. The restart saw Cottle leading Felker, Ray and Bayston, who moved up a spot on the restart. Yet another caution saw Ray come to a stop on the white flag lap. On the restart, Cottle blew the power plant. Felker assumed the lead and held on.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Tanner Thorson 67 (4*) 2. Austin Brown 7 (1*) 3. Parker Price-Miller 9P (6*) 4. Daniel Robinson 57D (2) 5. Jake Neuman 3N (5) 6. Matt Harms 53H (3)

Brown led Thorson and Robinson early. Price-Miller worked from sixth to third on lap two. Thorson took over the lead on lap three.

B main (started): 1. Daniel Robinson (1) 2. Dave Camfield Jr. (4) 3. Andy Baugh (6) 4. Jake Neuman (3) 5. Dave Camfield III (7) 6. Shane Morgan (5) 7. Dave McKay (2) / DNS – Robbie Ray, Jay Mounce, Colten Cottle, Matt Harms

Robinson led the distance in the 10-lapper. The only slowdown was a Morgan spin.

A main (started): 1. Zach Daum (8) 2. Rico Abreu (6) 3. Tyler Thomas (10) 4. Tanner Thorson (4) 5. Andrew Felker (1) 6. Justin Peck (5) 7. Terry Babb (13) 8. Seth Motsinger (12) 9. Andy Baugh (19) 10. Daniel Robinson (17) 11. Austin Brown (11) 12. Cole Wood (16) 13. Dalton Camfield (14) 14. Shane Morgan (22) 15. Nick Bailey (15) 16. Dave Camfield Jr. (18) 17. Jake Neuman (20) 18. Dave McKay (23) 19. Dave Camfield III (21) 20. Parker Price-Miller (7) 21. Darren Hagen (3) 22. Ryan Criswell (9) 23. Spencer Bayston (2)

Bayston led Thorson and Felker on lap one of the 30-lapper. Coming to the flagstand on the second lap, Thorson made contact with Bayston, flattening his left rear. There was too much damage to continue. The restart saw Thorson leading Felker, Abreu, Hagen and Thomas. Rico would move into second on lap five. Hagen was on the move as well, shooting by Felker into third on lap 9. A lap later, he would get sideways in turn four, and lose four spots. Wood would sping bringing caution. Thorson led Hagen, Felker, Daum, Thomas and Abreu back to green. At the halfway point, Wood would suffer a flat left rear. Thorson was trying to hold off Hagen at the time. Meanwhile, Daum, Felker and Abreu were dicing in small real estate behind them. Rico shot to third on the restart, and then made contact with Hagen, who got over the berm. Both went to the work area, and restarted at the tail, setting up another charge. Up front, Thorson led Daum, Felker, Thomas and Peck. Thomas shot to third on the start using the low side. Up front, Daum would work by Thorson for the lead on lap 21, and Peck moved by Thomas for third. A lap later, Brown spun bringing another caution. Peck continued his charge into second, and it looked like a shootout between he and Daum for the win. With five to go, however, Bailey flipped down the frontstretch. He would race on after landing on all fours. Peck continued to hound the leader, and it looked like the race would end that way again. Courtney spun right before the checkers, however. The two late cautions worked for Abreu, who shot around the rim to grab second. Thomas was running around the infield, grabbing third.
