39 cars

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Tony Bruce Jr. 18 (2*) 2. Ian Madsen 18M (1*) 3. Brooke Tatnell 14T (3*) 4. Gregg Bakker 11x (5) 5. Tasker Phillips 7TAZ (4) 6. Austin Johnson 81 (7) 7. Chris Graf 20G (6) 8. Skylar Prochaska 35 (8)

Bruce slammed the door on Madsen going into one and never looked back. Prochaska came to a stop and exited at the halfway point. Bakker showed speed and won a good battle over Phillips for fourth. Heavy rains on Friday made for very heavy track conditions that saw a ton of speed and little passing all night.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. DJ Brink 75 (1*) 2. Paige Polyak 19 (6*) 3. Kaley Gharst 7 (7*) 4. Brandon Halverson 32 (4) 5. Isaac Schreurs 612 (3) 6. Dusty Ballenger 2D (5) 7. Jeff Swindell 94 (2) DNS – Nick Lusk 29

N. Lusk flipped in hot laps and was a scratch for the night. Swindell led the distance until losing a motor with two to go. Polyak and Gharst were the benefactors, coming from the tail to grab the two highest totals in passing points on the night.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Mark Dobmeier 13 (1*) 2. Dusty Zomer 82 (3*) 3. Jason Johnson 41 (2) 4. Jody Rosenboom 14 (4) 5. Casey Heser 75c (6) 6. Blake Hahn 17 (5) 7. Derek Anderson 07 (7) DNS – Kenny Long 2ck

J. Johnson jumped the first two starts before being relegated to row two. He then jumped the third from the second row, but the race went green and he led the distance. The crowd was not pleased. Dobmeier’s owner, Dave Lunstra paid the tower a visit after the heat, probably reminding officials that his car was penalized two spots at Oskaloosa earlier this month. After some debate after the heats, Johnson was rightly penalized two spots.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Terry McCarl 6 (2*) 2. Johnny Herrera 45x (1*) 3. Seth Bergman 23 (4*) 4. Nate Laugen 18x (5) 5. Matt Juhl 09 (8*) 6. Justin Jacobsma 10 (6) 7. Bruce Anderson 64 (7) 8. Matt Wasmund 4w (3)

Wasmund came to a stop before a lap could be completed and was a scratch for the night. McCarl led the 8-lap distance in a mostly single-file affair.

Heat five (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Mark Toews 5T (2*) 2. Matt Covington 95 (4*) 3. Brian Brown 21 (3*) 4. Sam Hafertepe Jr. 15H (6*) 5. Brad Loyet o5 (7) 6. Derrik Lusk 93 (5) 7. Troy Manteufel 5m (1)

Toews shot out to an early lead with Covington in tow. Brown followed in third and that’s how they would run.

B main one (Started): 1. J. Johnson (1) 2. Laugen (2) 3. Halverson (3) / 4. A. Johnson (5) 5. Heser (4) 6. Graf (8) 7. Jacobsma (6) 8. Hahn (7) DNS – D. Anderson, J. Swindell, Wasmund, N. Lusk

J. Johnson never looked back and won the 12-lapper by twelve seconds.

B main two (started): 1. Loyet (2) 2. Bakker (1) 3. Phillips (4) / 4. Rosenboom (3) 5. Ballenger (6) 6. D. Lusk (7) 7. B. Anderson (8) 8. Prochaska (9) 9. Schreurs (5) DNS – Matnteufel, Long

Loyet led the distance in a single-file affair.

Dick Valentine Memorial (started): 1. A. Johnson (1) 2. Graf (5) 3. Rosenboom (2) 4. Heser (3) 5. Jacobsma (7) 6. Schreurs (8) 7. Ballenger (4) 8. B. Anderson (6)

The special event honors Valentine and includes the top eight non-qualifiers from the B. A. Johnson led the 8-lap distance and picked up $400. The race was $200 to start. After contact from another car, Ballenger flipped hard down the frontstretch. He was uninjured. B. Anderson also suffered front-end damage in the melee and was done.

A main (started): 1. Covington (2) 2. Gharst (1) 3. McCarl (3) 4. Bruce Jr. (6) 5. Toews (8) 6. Bergman (12) 7. Herrera (12) 8. Zomer (9) 9. Brown (16) 10. Tatnell (15) 11. Juhl (14) 12. J. Johnson (17) 13. Loyet (18) 14. Bakker (20) 15. Polyak (7) 16. Madsen (10) 17. Prochaska (25, prov.) 18. Halverson (21) 19. Brink (4) 20. Phillips (22) 21. Hahn (24, prov.) 22. D. Lusk (23, prov.) 23. Dobmeier (5) 24. Laugen (19) 25. Hafertepe Jr. (13) DNS – J. Swindell (prov.)

Hafertepe came to a stop and retired before a lap could be completed. Covington took an early lead over Gharst, McCarl and Dobmeier in the 30-lapper. With three laps down, Dobmeier looked to break something and go over the turn two berm. At the same time, Laugen came to a stop on the frontstretch, bringing a caution. On the restart, Covington led Gharst, McCarl, Bruce and Brink back to green. Polyak shot under Brink for fifth at that point. With seventeen laps down, however. She would have a wheel center break on the right rear and come to a stop. It appeared she was done, until Brink flipped in three and four before another lap could be completed. She would rejoin the field. Covington pulled away from Gharst on each restart. It looked like the last 13 would go green, before Madsen came to a stop with there to go. Covington would pull away again for his first National win of the year and $5,000.
