Josh Schneiderman - Knoxville Underway!

Tuesday, April 19, 2016
Josh SchneidermanJosh Schneiderman (Bill W) April 19, 2016 – Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team was back in action in the Knoxville Raceway season opener last Saturday night.  For the West Burlington, Iowa driver, it was his first 410 outing of the year, and his second overall.  This week, he’ll look to get some more laps in, as the team will head to Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois on Friday to compete with the MOWA series before returning to Knoxville action on Saturday.

Early in the going on Saturday, Josh was not feeling comfortable.  “We were horrible in hot laps,” he says.  “We weren’t even in the ballpark.  We went to work on it, and we slowly progressed on the car throughout the whole night.”

The car was a little better in qualifying.  “It was kind of weird on Saturday,” says Josh.  “It seemed the times got quicker the later you went in time trials.  We went out first with Ian Madsen, and we were 21st quick and he was 14th or 15th quick.  Maybe the first few cars built a cushion for the guys who went later.  That’s just how it went.”

Josh finished seventh in his heat and headed to the B.  “We were better in the heat race,” he says.  “Unfortunately, we were outside the invert and we had six fast cars in front of us.  That relegated us to the B.  We were good in the B though, and we were able to finish third.”

Starting 21st in the feature, he would work his way forward to a 17th place finish.  “We were o.k. in the A,” says Josh.  “I have a lot of rust to shake off.  If you weren’t prepared, the cushion would eat you up!  Looking back at the videos, it did bite a few drivers out there.”

Josh is looking forward to competing in two events this weekend.  “When you look at the results and look at the number and caliber of drivers we had on Saturday, we can’t hang our heads too much,” he says.  “We’ll go back to work this week.  We’re heading to Jacksonville to run with MOWA this Friday, and we’ll be back at Knoxville on Saturday.”

The team is excited about their prospects in 2016.  “We’re encouraged about everything,” says Josh.  “A lot of these drivers have some races under their belt.  We’ll get a few more races in and be right where we need to be.”
