Brian at Moberly (Mike Musslin - Checkered Flag Photography)Brian at Moberly (Mike Musslin - Checkered Flag Photography) (Bill W) April 6, 2016 – Brian Brown and the Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 team are gearing up for a busy weekend in southeast Iowa.  Friday they will be in 360 competition with the NSL 360 Show-Me-State Region and the Sprint Invaders at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson.  Saturday, the NSL 410 Series will open at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington.  Last Saturday, the Grain Valley, Missouri driver checkered fourth in NSL 360 National competition at Randolph County Raceway near Moberly, Missouri.

You started on the pole of your heat and went on to win.

Moberly has been good to us over the years.  We were good in the heat and it was good to get a win.  We may not have been as good as we could have been.  We were able to make some good mental notes and get the car better for the Qualifier.

That put you outside row two for the Qualifier.

We were able to get a good start and get by Jonathan (Cornell) in turn two.  We were able to go on and win that.  At that point, we thought things were going pretty well.  The track was starting to take a little rubber, even that early.

With the rubber appearing, the race was to turn one in the feature.

It was crucial that we had a good starting spot, and we were able to do that, getting on the front row.  We knew with the caliber of competition we had there that we would need to be really good.

You settled into second there behind Sammy Swindell.

We took off there, and we just weren’t as good as we needed to be.  Once we got down into the rubber we were too tight.  It was one of those situations where sometimes you knock it out of the park and make all the right adjustments, or you don’t.  We just missed it a little bit.

The race went non-stop and you finished fourth.

We felt we should have probably finished third.  I got frustrated late in the race and tried to make something happen on a part of the track that I shouldn’t have been on.  We got passed for fourth.  It was disappointing to start on the front and not get the win.  It makes us want to get better that much more heading into this weekend.

The team has a busy week ahead of them.

We’re really looking forward to getting to southeast Iowa.  We have a lot of great fans in that area.  We’ve run well at Burlington, but I think we’ve only been to Donnellson once several years ago.  I don’t remember us doing too well.
