Montpelier is not far from Brady’s home in Winchester, Indiana.  “It was fun to get to a new track, especially so close to my house,” he says.  “It reminded me of a little bigger and a little wider Gas City.  It was probably fifteen feet longer and fifteen feet wider.”

He would set the standard in qualifying before getting through his heat to lock into the main event.  “We were able to get quick time,” says Brady.  “We went out about mid-pack.  We were able to finish fourth in the heat (after starting sixth).  It was kind of hard to pass.  They had just reworked the track.”

Brady would line up sixth for the finale.  “They tilled the top and watered the bottom right before the A feature,” he says.  “Everyone was on the top, and I thought the bottom was going to come in and be the fast way around.  I waited it out for a couple of laps, and the bottom finally came in.  We went right by everyone that was in line on the top.”

He would charge to the point and never look back.  “Fortunately, no one figured it out until I was in the lead,” says Brady.  “We had a pretty good lead before we had a yellow or a red with ten to go.  That stacked us back up, and I tried not to make any mistakes after that.  Everything was around the bottom at that point.  I messed up a couple of times, but fortunately, no one was able to get around me.”

Brady and the Hoffman team tried some new things to make the car faster.  “We made some changes to the car to make it better on the slick,” he says.  “I think that worked.  It will take a few more races to make sure though.”

Brady is excited about getting the winged 410 back out.  “This is a good little stretch of wing races coming up,” he says.  “Hopefully, our race at Farmington a couple weeks ago got some of our issues out of the way.  The car should be pretty good, and we’re going to some tracks that I’ve had some success at.”
