Mark Dobmeier - Momentum for Nationals with Runner-up at Jackson!

(Paul Arch Photo)(Paul Arch Photo) (Bill W) May 31, 2017 – Mark Dobmeier and the Jimco Racing/Polaris #13 team is looking forward to this weekend’s Jackson Nationals after another solid run at the Jackson Motorplex in Minnesota last Friday night.  A charge from eighth to second has the team excited about their prospects at the Jackson Nationals this Thursday through Saturday with the World of Outlaws.

The Grand Forks, North Dakota driver is really enjoying the success in the early part of the season.  Friday at Jackson was no different.  “It was a nice solid run for the team,” says Mark.  “We stepped in there where we left off from the first night.  They changed their format a little bit.  They drew for heats and we drew the seventh spot in our heat.”

Mark would finish fourth in his heat.  “We had a great car,” he says.  “We passed a couple guys and we were moving forward.  I think we were up to third at one point, and I felt I was going to pass for second.  That’s when the driver made a little error and rolled in the marbles on the high side of one and two.  Needless to say, I gave up my third spot to Cap Henry.  That’s where we settled in was fourth.”

Being eighth overall in points put him outside row four for the feature.  “We got trucking right away,” says Mark.  “We got a couple of guys on the start, and just had a great car.  We’d make one pass, and had drive to get to the next one.  We got into the third spot behind (Brian) Brown and he was gaining on (Scott) Winters.  I felt like we had the same speed.  I would gain on Brown, and then he’d pull away a little bit.”

Mark would work his way up to second at the checkers.  “We pulled up on (Brown) a few times, but when he got by Scott in clean air, he took off,” he says.  “We had enough to get up to second, but that was all we could do.  We had a good car, and we’re excited for this weekend at Jackson.  We’re getting loaded up and ready.  We have a nice baseline with our big track program, so we’re excited.”

A poor forecast Saturday for Knoxville Raceway in Iowa kept the team from making the tow.  “The weather just didn’t look good at all,” says Mark.  “We made the choice to come back home, and it bit us in the butt a little.  They raced anyway.  We’ve been pretty lucky playing the rain game, so we didn’t feel too bad.”
