Terry McCarl (17th car out to time) set quick time at 15.163 seconds. Brian Brown (3rd car out) was second quick, followed by Dusty Zomer (8th), Mark Dobmeier (2nd), Johnny Herrera (19th), Don Droud Jr. (7th), Josh Higday (1st), Ryan Anderson (4th), Skip Jackson (16th) and Calvin Landis (13th). Rager Phillips failed to get a time in, but since his brother Tasker was using his back-up, he took over on that car before the heats.
Heat one (started): 1. Scott Winters 23w (1) 2. Tim Kaeding 83 (7) 3. Kerry Madsen 55 (2) 4. Landis 70 (3) 5. Kaley Gharst 7K (9) / 6. T. McCarl 24 (6) 7. Higday 81 (4) 8. Mike Moore 69 (8) 9. Dobmeier 13 (5) 10. Chris Morgan 7c (10) DNS - Tasker Phillips 7TAZ
Winters did a nice job throughout leading the 8-lap distance. Dobmeier got over the cushion in turn two and did a good job to save it, but he fell to the back of the pack and spun on lap three. The restart saw Winters ahead of Madsen, a charging Kaeding, Landis, T. McCarl and Gharst. Gharst found a way around T. McCarl after the restart to grab the fifth and final transfer.
Heat two (started): 1. Herrera 2w (5) 2. Chad Kemenah 63 (2) 3. Brown 21 (6) 4. Ry. Anderson 71R (4) 5. Davey Heskin 56 (1) / 6. Bronson Maeschen 1 (3) 7. Wayne Johnson 14AJ (10) 8. Lynton Jeffrey 12 (8) 9. Rager Phillips 10 (11) 10. Seth Brahmer 13v (7) 11. Toni Lutar 4x (9)
Kemenah wrestled the early lead from Heskin, but Herrera was on his way forward, and took the point on lap three. Heskin and Maeschen battled back and forth for the final transfer, before the former grabbed it for good late. The track was really starting to slick off.
Heat three (started): 1. Josh Schneiderman 49 (1) 2. Brooke Tatnell 21AU (3) 3. Jackson 2 (4) 4. Billy Alley 22 (2) 5. Zomer 17G (6) / 6. Droud Jr. 47 (5) 7. Bob Weuve 19 (8) 8. Austin McCarl 17A (7) 9. Matthew Reed v92 (9) 10. Pete Crall 1PC (10)
Schneiderman led flag to flag. Contact between Weuve and Crall on lap five resulted in Crall flipping down the backstretch. He wa uninjured. The restart, with four laps to go, saw Schneiderman leading Tatnell, Alley, Jackson, Droud Jr. and Zomer. The best battle was for the final transfer, and Zomer grabbed it after the restart.
B main (started): 1. T. McCarl (1) 2. Dobmeier (2) 3. Droud Jr. (3) 4. Higday (4) 5. W. Johnson (13) / 6. Jeffrey (9) 7. Maeschen (5) 8. Moore (8) 9. Brahmer (6) 10. Morgan (15) 11. Weuve (10) 12. Reed (12) 13. Lutar (11) 14. A. McCarl (7) 15. R. Phillips (14) DNS - Crall, T. Phillips
R. Phillips was warned once, and disqualified on the second try at green for jumping. T. McCarl led the pack once underway, getting his only challenge when Dobmeier pulled beside him with four to go in the 12-lapper. W. Johnson slid under Maeschen and Jeffrey in one move with two to go to complete a charge from row seven and grab the final transfer to the A.
A main #1 (started): 1. Herrera (3) 2. T. McCarl (16) 3. Zomer (2) 4. Tatnell (7) 5. Droud Jr. (18) 6. Jackson (5) 7. Alley (10) 8. Madsen (8) 9. Landis (6) 10. Winters (11) 11. Heskin (12) 12. Ry. Brown grabbed the ealry advantage before a lap two fracas involving six cars brought things to a screeching halt. Alley was tagged from behind sending him sideways. Five other cars were collected in the mess with Alley being the only one to continue after extensive repairs. Johnson, who was treated for a leg injury, Dobmeier, Kemenah, Higday and Kaeding were all involved. Only Alley and Dobmeier were able to start the second feature. Brown led Zomer, Herrera, Landis and Tatnell back to green flag racing. Brown pulled away with what seemed like ease. Herrera and Zomer battled for second, with Herrera gaining the spot on lap 11. Around lap 8, Brown began to smoke heavily. The motor had had enough on lap 15 and he coasted to a stop after building a four second lead with five laps to go. Herrera inherited the point ahead of Zomer, T. McCarl from 16th, Tatnell and Madsen and held on for his 14th career Knoxville win. McCarl earned hard-charger honors, barely edging out Droud's late run into the top five.
A main #2 (started): 1. Madsen (7) 2. Herrera (14) 3. T. McCarl (13) 4. Gharst (2) 5. Droud Jr. (10) 6. Alley (8) 7. Brown (15) 8. Ry. Anderson (3) 9. Tatnell (11) 10. Jeffrey (17) 11. Johnson, Higday
Schneiderman led the first nine laps on a track that was slicking up close to the fence. Madsen overtook Gharst for second when he slipped over the cushion, and took the lead on lap ten. Schneiderman's great run would come to an end with a flat right rear on lap 16. With great racing happening throughout the pack, Madsen led Gharst, Herrera, whose pass for second was negated by the caution, Ry. Anderson and McCarl back to green flag racing. Herrera worked by Gharst shortly after the restart to move into second, while McCarl picked off Ry. Anderson and then Gharst for third. T. McCarl battled with Herrera, missing second by hundredths of a second. Herrera was the hard-charger. Madsen held on for the win, his 16th at Knoxville.

Russell shot out to an early lead in an ex-Terry McCarl Maxim. On lap two, Agan came to a stop. Russell led Mosher, Moore Jr., Moro and Selvage back to the green. Covington moved up to fifth by the white flag lap. Moro tried to slide him, but couldn't get him cleared. The two made contact and Moro flipped hard. He was unhurt. An invert of twelve made things interesting and we saw some charges through the pack. Alumbaugh led lap one, but Cornell took over the next time around. On lap five of fifteen, Thompson stopped with a flat left rear and retired. The restart saw Corbin ahead of Alumbaugh, D. Hall, Moore Jr. and Covington. D. Hall worked by Alumbaugh, but had nothing for the leader. Meanwhile, battles raged through the field, including Garner's charge to third which earned him hard-charger honors. Cornell's win was his third already this season at Knoxville.
