Knoxville Nationals Non-qualifiers/Scrambles

75 cars

C Scramble (started): 1. Lance Dewease 25 (1) 2. Greg Wilson w20 (2) 3. Mark Dobmeier 13L (4) 4. Dean Jacobs 7K (5) 5. Justin Henderson D1 (6) 6. Bob Felmlee 6F (7) 7. Seth Brahmer 13 (9) 8. Skip Jackson 2 (8) 9. Jack Potter 15P (3) DNS - Jason Johnson 41

J. Johnson shelled a driveline in hot laps and was taken in to the hospital with foot and toe injuries.  Dewease left the rest behind in the 8 lapper, shortened due to daytime conditions.  He improved his stock, as he came in 10th in points in the C, and left starting outside row two.  20 points were awarded to scramble winners, 18 to second place, and so on.  One point was added for every car passed.  Those points were added to points accumulated on qualifying nights and that determined Saturday night's starting order.

B Scramble (started): 1. Shane Stewart 1HD (4) 2. Tim Kaeding 10K (1) 3. Greg Hodnett 22 (3) 4. Garry Lee Maier 11x (2) 5. Danny Smith 4 (5) 6. Tony Bruce Jr. 18T (7) 7. Randy Hannagan 1x (9) 8. Brian Brown 21 (6) 9. Chad Kemenah 8K (10) 10. Brandon Wimmer 7TW (8)

Kaeding led early, using the low side of the speedway.  Stewart tried a higher groove and made it work to take a lap seven lead.  D. Smith held off Bruce Jr. in a battle for fifth.

McCarl led flag to flag in this one.  Tatnell held off Kinser after a good battle, with Kinser using a higher groove and daytime experience to knock on the door.

Hillier shot out to an early lead in the 10 lapper.  On lap three, Eyler suffered a flat right rear, surendering fifth.  On the restart, Hillier led Winters, Garner, King and Howard.  Winters pressured the leader until he found the high line around on lap nine.

Madsen rode the rail to lead the 15 lapper for the duration.  A pair of cautions slowed the proceedings.  On lap eight, Landis came to a stp while running ninth.  He would continue.  On lap twelve, Michael spun, bringing another yellow.  Meyers and Haudenschild exchanged fourth a couple of times in an otherwise uneventful feature.
