(Bill W) August 21, 2017 – Season Championship Night at the Knoxville Raceway is up next for the Midwest Thunder Sprints presented by www.OpenWheel101.com series this Saturday night. Jackson Motorplex in Minnesota fell to rain last week, but three World of Outlaws events in North Dakota saw Donny Schatz win at River Cities in Grand Forks, Jason Johnson win in West Fargo, and David Gravel take the checkers in Minot.
The $4,000 to win, $400 to start IRA event scheduled for Wednesday, September 13 at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois has been added to the Midwest Thunder schedule. That adds a race to a week that also sees the IRA at the Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa on Friday, September 14 and the Deer Creek Speedway near Spring Valley, Minnesota on Saturday, September 15.
The Midwest Thunder schedule has seen 23 different winners in the 45 events contested. Kerry Madsen leads the standings over Ian Madsen, Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet and Brian Brown. Shane Stewart, David Gravel, Brooke Tatnell, Tim Kaeding and Daryn Pittman round out the top ten.
