Josh Schneiderman - Traffic Jam!

Josh SchnediermanJosh Schnedierman (Bill W) August 24, 2017 – A victory was snatched from Josh Schneiderman by the jaws of lapped traffic Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa with the Sprint Invaders.  The West Burlington, Iowa native couldn’t avoid a spinning lapped car while leading the main event.  Josh would bounce back Saturday at his hometown 34 Raceway for a strong second place finish.  The Deuce Motorsports #49 team is ready for Season Championship Night this Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway.

After winning his heat and finishing second in the Dash at Donnellson, Josh and young Ayrton Gennetten exchanged the lead several times in lapped traffic in the feature.  “Ayrton is a good race car driver, and he’s only going to get better with time,” says Josh.  “It was a lot of fun racing back and forth with him.  It’s hard to believe, that at 30 years old (last Monday), I’m becoming one of the old timers.  I’ve gone the other way.  It was really looking like a win there, but circumstances didn’t dictate that.”

Josh had taken the lead at the time of impact.  “As competitive as the Sprint Invaders has become…the wins just don’t come easy,” he says.  “We had track position, which we have lacked this year.  We were lucky enough to start up front in the heat race, and that’s crucial in making the Dash.”

After checking over the car, the team headed for more Sprint Invaders action at 34 Raceway.
“We just didn’t feel as good as we had at Donnellson,” says Josh.  “We bent so much stuff up Friday night, that I don’t know if I missed something.  We were good, we just weren’t as good as Friday.  We were able to run second there in the heat and second in the Dash.  The draw didn’t really set things up well for us, but that’s how it goes.  Friday night it did help us.”

Starting sixth in the feature, Josh would quickly make his way towards the front.  “We were able to get into the top three the first couple of laps,” he says.  “We were able get by Tanner Gebhart for second.  He’s another good young driver doing a good job.  He’s been coming into his own too.”

Gio Scelzi had opened up a large lead at that point.  “We needed another caution,” says Josh.  “That Scelzi kid was just way too far out there.  I don’t know that it would have mattered, but you always want a caution to take at least one shot and see.”

Josh was impressed by Gio’s run.  “I remember when I was that age, there was no fear,” he says.  “You didn’t care what you tore up.  Now at my age, the body doesn’t heal quite as fast, and we have to fix what we tore up.  It’s really cool to see this young talent though.  It was really impressive what Gio did.  He seems like a really down to earth nice kid like his brother.  They have a nice family.”
