Trevor Green (24th car out to time) set the new track record on the semi-banked 3/8 miler at 14.367 seconds.  Travis Whitney (10th car out) was second quick, followed by John Haeni (26th), Mike Reinke (19th), KJ Skelton (7th), Tim Sernett (12th), Scott Biertzer (22nd), Gordy Vogelaar (21st), Billy Alley (13th) and Bill Warren (23rd).  Scott Neitzel jumped the berm on his first lap and stumbled on his second, recording the slowest time of the night.

Heat one (started): 1. Billy Balog 1H (1) 2. Dave Uttech 68 (2) 3. Biertzer 4B (4) 4. Green 11AU (6) 5. Reinke 02 (5) / 6. Warren 95 (3) 7. Ty Bartz 75 (7) 8. Scott Uttech 7 (8) 9. Joe Symoens 96 (9)

Balog led the mostly single-file 8 lapper.  Reinke jumped around Warren at the start to secure the final transfer on the heavy surface.

Heat two (started): 1. Skip Jackson 2 (2) 2. Randy Anderson 81 (1) 3. Steve Meyer 85m (3) 4. Vogelaar 1A (4) 5. Whitney 9 (6) / 6. Skelton 80 (5) 7. Scott Neitzel 2w (9) 8. Wayne Modjeski 77 (8) 9. Howie Gleason 21G (7)

Jackson dominated this one, shooting around the high side and recording faster times on a stopwatch than were recorded in time trials.

Heat three (started): 1. John Sernett 91 (2) 2. Alley 17G (4) 3. Mike Stefka 35s (1) 4. Kim Mock 1m (3) 5. Haeni 21J (6) / 6. Ryan Irwin 49 (7) 7. Tim Sernett 91T (5) 8. Bill Wirth 53w (8)

Sernett led Alley the distance in another mostly heavy, single-file event.

B main (started): 1. T. Sernett (2) 2. Warren (3) 3. Skelton (1) 4. Bartz (4) 5. S. Uttech (7) 6. Neitzel (11) 7. Gleason (5) / 8. Symoens (10) 9. Irwin (6) 10. Wirth (9) 11. Modjeski (8)

T. Sernett took the early lead before Irwin spun and came to a stop on the backstretch on lap three.  Neitzel moved up nicely getting by Symoens and Gleason after the restart to capture sixth.  Warren and Skelton raced side by side for second with Warren grabbing the spot on lap 8 of 12.

A main (started): 1. Reinke (4) 2. Whitney (6) 3. Warren (12) 4. Skelton (10) 5. Biertzer (3) 6. Haeni (5) 7. Balog (8) 8. Meyer (13) 9. Mock (14) 10. Neitzel (21) 11. S. Uttech (20) 12. J. Sernett (9) 13. D. Uttech (15) 14. T. Sernett (11) 15. Anderson (16) 16. Gleason (19) 17. Jackson (1) 18. Bartz (18) 19. Alley (2) 20. Green (7) 21. Stefka (17) 22. Vogelaar (22)

Vogelaar elected to start at the rear and pulled off immediately after the green fell with motor problems.  Gleason spun right away.  The complete restart saw trouble as Neitzel, Stefka and Meyer came together in turn four.  Stefka retired with a broken front axle, while Meyer and Neitzel (sans nose wing), continued.  Once the green finally fell, there was three-wide action for the lead coming off turn two, with Alley on the high side, Jackson in the middle, and Reinke passing them both on the low side.  Reinke rode the rim around turns three and four to lead the first circuit.  On lap two, Green and Biertzer contacted, while J. Sernett spun, bringing out yet another caution.  Green would retire.  Five more laps were in the books with Reinke pulling away, when Neitzel spun in turn one.  Alley would soon retire when he lost a valve in the motor.  Reinke led Jackson, Whitney, Balog and Skelton back to green flag racing.  The race was a classic between Reinke and Whitney, who quickly got by Jackson.  Once the duo entered traffic, Whitney pulled alongside Reinke on a number of occasions.  Reinke seemed to have a rear view mirror, as he slammed the door on Whitney a couple of times.  On lap 19, Whitney moved under Reinke to lead down the backstretch, but Reinke regained the point with a good corner around the high side of three and four to lead at the flagstand.  The epic battle was ended when Jackson spun his mount out of the fourth spot on lap 20. The final six laps were all Reinke, as the crowd gave he and Whitney a standing ovation for their duel.  Neitzel recovered for a top ten finish, earning hard-charger honors, while Warren shot from fifth to third after the final restart to earn an impressive podium finish.
