Josh Schneiderman - Shaking Off the Rust!

Wednesday, April 25, 2018
Des Moines, IA (April 25, 2018) – Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 opened up the Knoxville Raceway season last Saturday on a chilly April night. Due to a number of rainouts, it was the first chance for the team to drop in the 410 and only the second race of the year thus far. While the A-main result wasn’t exactly what Josh was looking for, it gave the team notes and momentum to take to the track this Saturday, when the #49 will be back at the Knoxville Raceway, before a planned trip to run with the World of Outlaws at Lake Ozark Speedway in Missouri.

The night started with a draw that had Josh as one of the final cars to come out and take time during qualifying. “We tried some new things to see if we could put ourselves in a better position in qualifying, as that has been where we’ve struggled the past couple years at Knoxville,” Josh said. “We came out and had good speed, but I jumped the cushion a bit on both laps and that left us in the middle of the pack.”

Josh’s time left him starting on the outside of the front row in the second heat and he saw it as a tale of two halves. “I really felt good in the heat and we were able to grab the lead at the start and the first four laps went pretty well, but then I struggled through the final four laps, which allowed (Terry) McCarl to get around for the win,” he said.

When the feature started, the Deuce Motorsports team had the car setup to make their way forward on the bottom, but the track didn’t comply. “We had the car ready to roll the bottom and try to move to the front, but it just didn’t stay good long enough and the top was hooked up,” says Josh. “Being only the second time in the car this year, it felt like we were just shaking off the rust and we’ll be able to take this to move forward and improve next week.”
