Sprints

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Mike Chadd 4 (3*) 2. Eric Jobe 23 (2*) 3. Rick Ideus 5B (6*) 4. Chad Humston 23c (8*) 5. Jeff Lowery 45 (1) 6. Jason Danley 82 (7) 7. Mark Pace 31 (5) 8. Justin Jacobsma 10 (4)

Chadd took the lead on the opening circuit from Lowery in the 10 lapper.  Humston, who was a day removed from a 10-day hospital stay, moved up nicely and earned solid passing points.  He and Lowery put on the best racing on a quickly drying surface.  Danley tried high and low, but fell just short of beating Lowery to the finish.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Jon Corbin 15 (2*) 2. Brian Brown 21 (6*) 3. Rick Halverstadt 1H (1*) 4. Jeff Mitrisin 10J (5*) 5. Stu Snyder 4s (3) 6. AJ Selenke 43 (4) 7. Ryan Bickett 17B (7) 8. Jay Russell 76 (8)

Corbin shot out to a large margin immediately.  Behind him, his cousin was bringing the 21 steadily forward, first shooting around Snyder, and after a couple laps of battle, got by Halverstadt with two to go for the runner-up position.  Mitrisin and Snyder also had a nice duel for fourth.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Dusty Zomer 24A (3*) 2. Luke Cranston 20 (1*) 3. Gene Ackland 14G (2*) 4. Mike Woodruff 44x (4*) 5. Don Droud Jr. 2 (7) 6. Ryan Roberts 18 (5) 7. Shawn Van Wyhe 99 (6) 8. Toby Chapman 84 (8)

Zomer wrestled the early lead from Cranston who would not go away, and challenged for the lead a few times.  Zomer used the high groove in one and two and the low in three and four to pull away the last three laps.  Woodruff and Droud tussled for the fourth spot, which turned out to be the final transfer.

Heat four (started): 1. Doug Lovegrove 44 (1*) 2. Jake Peters 57x (7*) 3. Seth Brahmer 13 (2*) 4. JD Johnson 98 (5*) 5. Jack Dover 53 (4) 6. Gregg Bakker 11x (3) 7. Bobby Becker 8B (6) 8. Roger Sundquist 7 (8)

Lovegrove led flag to flag, despite a charging Peters who challenged him at the finish.  Bakker slipped after running fifth with about four laps to go, denying him a chance at a transfer.

B main (started): 1. Droud (1) 2. Dover (4) 3. Lowery (2) 4. Roberts (7) / 5. Pace (9) 6. Danley (5) 7. Bakker (8) 8. Becker (12) 9. Selenke (6) 10. Bickett (10) 11. Jacobsma (13) 12. Chapman (15) 13. Russell (14) 14. Van Wyhe (11) 15. Sundquist (16) 16. Snyder (3)

Droud and Dover paced the 12 lap distance.  Lowery, Danley, Bakker and Roberts were at times three-wide in a battle for the final two transfer spots.  When Lowery, Danley and Roberts were three-wide in a battle for third, the lapped car of Sundquist slowed Danley’s momentum costing him several spots.  Lowery and the youngster Roberts were the benefactors, while Bakker also faded.

A main (started): 1. Peters (1) 2. Brown (3) 3. Chadd (2) 4. Ideus (7) 5. Corbin (5) 6. Lovegrove (6) 7. Zomer (4) 8. Brahmer (13) 9. Droud (17) 10. Johnson (15) 11. Mitrisin (12) 12. Cranston (8) 13. Dover (16) 14. Lowery (19) 15. Ackland (10) 16. Halverstadt (11) 17. Humston (9) 18. Roberts (20) 19. Woodruff (14) DNS – Jobe

Peters shot out to the lead with Brown in tow in the 25 lapper.  Rubber was evident on the low side and it became a one-groove parade until lap 15, when Peters bobbled behind the lapped machine of Lowery.  Brown dove inside him, but the pass was negated when Woodruff flipped over the turn four inside berm.  Peters led Brown, Chadd, Corbin and Ideus back to green flag racing, but before a lap could be completed, Halverstadt and Roberts spun simultaneously in turn three.  Peters led the parade six more laps before Humston, who was running sixth tipped over in turn two.  Roberts spun at the same time in turn three and both were done.  Peters cruised the final four laps to victory.  Droud was the hard-charger, moving up eight spots.

Midgets

Heat one (started): 1. Rik Forbes 71x (2) 2. Craig Carey 5x (3) 3. Cody Brewer 96 (6) 4. Garett Hood 11H (4) 5. Jimi Quin 43NZ (5) 6. Nick Knepper 25 (9) 7. Jim Doyle 79 (8) 8. Andy Mason 47 (1) 9. Mike Woodruff 22 (7)

Mason and Woodruff pulled off immediately.  Forbes led the distance in the Ron Love machine in a mostly single-file 8 lap affair.

Heat two (started): 1. Don Droud Jr. 4 (4) 2. Luke Icke 2 (1) 3. Russ Harper 9H (3) 4. Tony Rossi 14 (6) 5. Steve Knepper 55 (5) 6. Chad McDaniel 1c (7) 7. Mike Hess 51 (9) 8. Kyle Rayburn 99 (8) 9. Gary Taylor 5D (2)

Icke led early from the pole.  Droud was soon dogging him, and took the lead with two to go.  Taylor exited on the same circuit.  Hess found nothing to suit him on his usual high side approach, so he tucked it in low and followed the leader.

Dash (started): 1. Icke (5) 2. Droud (4) 3. Brewer (2) 4. Forbes (3) 5. Carey (6) 6. Harper (1)

Harper dominated the six-lapper until losing power in turn three coming for the checkered.  The heat winners and next top four in passing points raced to decide the A main starting spots.  Icke found the middle groove to his liking in moving up in the field.

A main (started): 1. Forbes (4) 2. Icke (1) 3. Taylor (17) 4. Droud (2) 5. Brewer (3) 6. Harper (6) 7. Carey (5) 8. S. Knepper (11) 9. Woodruff (15) 10. Hess (13) 11. N. Knepper (9) 12. McDaniel (12) 13. Rossi (7) 14. Doyle (14) 15. Quin (10) 16. Rayburn (16) 17. Hood (8) DNS – Mason

Icke took the early lead in the 25 lapper.  The line was low on the huggy pole and Icke did well to protect it through 15 laps when Hood brought the caution out with a turn three stop while running sixth.  Icke led Droud, Forbes, Brewer, Harper and a surging Taylor from the tail, back to green flag racing.  Forbes quickly slung around Droud through the middle groove and set his sights on the leader, making his winning pass on lap 17.  Rayburn would bring the final caution with a mechanical break on lap 19.  Contact between Icke and Droud on lap 20 resulted in Droud losing several spots.  Harper did the same when he slid high while running third on the final go-around.  Taylor was the benefactor in earning hard-charger honors while Forbes claimed the $2000 prize and his first POWRi win.
