Josh Schneiderman - Hard Charging Through Memorial Day

Thursday, May 31, 2018
Des Moines, IA (May 23, 2018) – It was a rough Memorial Day weekend for the Deuce Motorsports #49 and driver Josh Schneiderman, though there were still some bright spots for the team to take away from the long weekend. “The Professor” will be racing this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, before taking a little vacation when the USAC Sprints come to town on June 9th.

The team kicked off the weekend by heading to Lee County Speedway for the Sprint Invaders event on Friday night and earned their highest finish of the weekend with a 7th place in the night’s main event. “The track was really fast early in the night and we just don’t have the same speed in our 360 motor as some of the other guys out there,” said Josh. “We’ve been focused on constantly improving our 410 and being better at Knoxville, which means we haven’t made any updates to our 360 program in quite a while.”

As the night wore on and the track began to slick off a bit, Josh was able to make some moves early in the A-main. “The car felt really strong at the beginning of the feature,” said Schneiderman. “We were able to shoot up from where we started in seventh to 3rd early, but I held out trying to make the bottom work for a bit too long and faded back to where we started by the end of the race.”

The Deuce Motorsports team dropped in the 410 engine to the World of Wheels #49 for Saturday night at Knoxville and saw improvement in qualifying, stopping the clock with a time good enough to be in the top ten. “Our laps in qualifying felt good,” said Josh. “We still aren’t quite to where we’d like to be, but Saturday was a definite improvement over the previous weeks.”

While Josh’s qualifying effort improved, he struggled in his heat from the drop of the green flag. “We got off to a really rough start in our heat and the car wasn’t spectacular,” said Josh. “We had tried out a different combination and missed on it. We lost a couple of positions early and everything seemed to snowball, which left us starting pretty deep in the A-main.”

“The Professor” rolled off 16th on the grid for the night’s feature event and was able to move his way up steadily through the field to come home 9th and earn the night’s hard charger award. “We were able to run the bottom really well early in the A,” said Schneiderman. “The bottom went away a bit throughout the race and the cushion was rough, which isn’t typical at Knoxville. It wasn’t the night we were really hoping for, but being able to be the hard charger in a Knoxville A-main is never something to hang your head about.”

Sunday night with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway brought the weekend to a rough close for the Deuce Motorsports team, as Josh was involved in an accident on a restart early in the A-main, ending what would have likely been another run at a hard charger. “We had a bad start to the night and had to come out of the B, but we had made our way from 19th to 12th with still a lot of laps left in the A-main,” said Josh. “On the restart, we got driven over from behind while running the bottom. Not really sure what happened on that one, but it ended our night.”

The Deuce Motorsports team will be back in action this coming Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway, then enjoying a weekend off the following week, while the Deuce Motorsports hauler will be getting an upgrade. “The trailer is going to the manufacturer the weekend of June 9th, so no chance of us making it up to the Jackson Nationals,” said Josh.
