Des Moines, IA (June 6, 2018) – Well, Saturday night felt a bit like déjà vu for Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports team. A rough go of it in qualifying and their heat race left the World of Wheels #49 behind the eight-ball, but “The Professor” was able to wheel his way to another night as hard charger and a top ten finish in the night’s A-main. What’s the reward for the Deuce Motorsports team? A weekend of rest and relaxation, as the 410s have this Saturday night off from the Knoxville Raceway!
Qualifying continues to be an Achilles’ heel for Schneiderman and the team, though Saturday night may have been the most frustrating run of the year, because of how it felt in the car. “I honestly thought that we had put down a pretty fast time in qualifying,” said Josh. “It felt like a good lap in the seat, so when we ended 14th I was a little bit shocked.”
Josh’s lap time in the middle of the pack left him with a starting spot on the outside of the front row in the second 410 heat race of the night. However, some maneuvering by the starters on the second row left Schneiderman staring at a couple tail tanks coming out of turn four to the green flag. “Not exactly sure what happened at the start of our heat,” said Josh. “When we got to the first turn we had already fallen back to 4th and, honestly, I was a bit flustered and thought the start was going to get called back.”
Schneiderman would end the heat in fifth and be left rolling off the grid 17th for the night’s feature event. Echoing last week’s story, “The Professor” was able to wheel the #49 into the top ten by the time the checkered flag was waving to earn another hard charger after picking up eight spots. “The car was great in the A-main,” said Schneiderman. “I was able to put it anywhere on the track and I was basically going where the guys in front of me weren’t.”
Both his team and the track received a lot of praise from Josh. “The track was great and really racy throughout the night, but especially in the A-main,” said Josh. “We were fast on the bottom in turns one and two, and we were able to run the cushion well in three and four. I’m just really proud of the team for sticking it out and making the best of what was a really frustrating night.”
The Deuce Motorsports team will be enjoying a night off this Saturday, as the 410s won’t be in action at the Knoxville Raceway when the USAC Wingless Sprints come to town. The Universal Therapy Group #49 will be back on the track the following Saturday, June 16th at the Knoxville Raceway!
