Wayne Johnson (18th car out to time) set quick time with a lap of 15.246 seconds on the heavy half-mile. Calvin Landis (32nd car out) was second quick, followed by Skip Jackson (16th), Justin Henderson (19th), Billy Alley (20th), Kerry Madsen (14th), Clint Garner (24th), Brian Brown (21st), Lynton Jeffrey (10th) and Ricky Logan (29th). Mike Moore hit the wall in hot laps and scratched for the night without a time. Tim St. Arnold also scratched before time trials. Brown stalled after his second lap, but after fixing a fuel pump problem, was good for the night. Jerry Richert Jr. managed one lap at the end of qualifications.

Heat one (started): 1. Jon Agan 4 (2) 2. Logan 10 (3) 3. Garner 40 (4) 4. Johnson 14AJ (6) 5. Henderson D11 (5) 6. Bob Weuve 19 (7) / 7. Jesse Giannetto D1 (8) 8. Ian Madsen F5 (9) 9. Jay Landolt 21s (10) 10. Colin Northway 60 (1) DNS - Mike Moore 69

Northway shot out to an early lead and dominated until the white flag flew and his motor expired in the 8 lapper, ending his night. Weuve took advantage of Northway's misfortune by gaining the final transfer. He would be the only driver outside the invert (invert 6, take 6) to make the feature through the heat events.

Heat two (started): 1. Mike Reinke 02 (1) 2. Brown 21 (4) 3. Brent Antill 1 (2) 4. Alley 22 (5) 5. Don Droud Jr. 17G (3) 6. Landis 70 (6) / 7. Kaley Gharst 44G (7) 8. Jerry Richert Jr. 55K (9) 9. Jaymie Moyle 5m (8) 10. Tyler Houseman 50 (10) DNS - Tim St. Arnold 7w

Reinke led flag to flag. The best battle was for second between Antill and an impressive Brown.

Heat three (started): 1. Ryan Anderson 71R (2) 2. Chad Meyer 1w (1) 3. Madsen 55 (5) 4. Jeffrey 4AU (4) 5. Jackson 2 (6) 6. Chris Walraven 56 (3) / 7. Matt Moro 47 (8) 8. Greg Jones 35 (9) 9. Robert Bell 71 (10) 10. Travis Cram 7x (7)

Anderson led the distance in another mostly single-file event. Cram, coming out of retirement for the first time in 2005, was subbing for John VanDenBerg, who was involved in an auto accident on Friday night. VanDenBerg is expected to recover from a banged up shoulder. Cram exited while smoking on the white flag lap.

B main (started): 1. Gharst (1) 2. Giannetto (3) 3. Moyle (4) 4. Moro (5) 5. Richert (7) 6. I. Madsen (6) / 7. Landolt (9) 8. Jones (8) 9. Houseman (10) 10. Bell (11) 11. Cram (2) DNS - Moore, St. Arnold, Northway

Gharst led flag to flag in impressive fashion. He continues to get better each week, and was again awarded for his Rookie of the Nationals honors at intermission. Cram fell out on lap two while smoking and in a transfer spot.

A main (started): 1. Brown (1) 2. Alley (4) 3. K. Madsen (3) 4. Logan (10) 5. Henderson (5) 6. Droud (11) 7. Giannetto (20) 8. Jeffrey (9) 9. Anderson (15) 10. Moro (22) 11. I. Madsen (24) 12. Agan (13) 13. Meyer (17) 14. Landis (7) 15. Moyle (21) 16. Antill (14) 17. Weuve (18) 18. Richert (3) 19. Jackson (6) 20. Walraven (12) 21. Reinke (16) 22. Johnson (8) 23. Gharst (19) 24. Garner (2)

The initial try at green was going to be called back when Garner contacted Johnson's machine and flipped in front of the field on the backstretch. Johnson spun, and the incident also collected Landis and Agan, who also flipped. Amazingly, Garner would be the only one not to restart. It was a bad break for Johnson who entered the race only 30 points behind Madsen, as he would restart at the tail with Landis and Agan. Brown shot out to an early lead before Johnson spun bringing out a caution on lap three. Johnson had moved forward around 10 spots, but would have to restart at the tail again. Brown led Alley, Logan, Madsen and Jackson back to green flag racing. Four laps later, disaster struck again for Johnson when he flipped after contacting Moro's machine. Richert was collected in the fray. Johnson went pitside. The restart saw the fifth place machine of Jackson get together with the seventh place machine of Walraven, with both getting upside down. The incident collected Reinke, who had charged to 8th. He joined the pair in the infield. No one was injured. The remaining 13 laps went unimpeded with Brown in charge through lapped traffic for his second Knoxville win in 2005. Madsen's third place run stretched his points lead over Johnson to 185 heading into the season finale next week. I. Madsen earned an extra $300 as the hard charger driving from 24th to 11th. Giannetto and Moro also made solid moves forward.

360s

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Rager Phillips 9 (2*) 2. John Kearney 83B (4*) 3. Joe Beaver 53 (7*) 4. Jarod Smith 48 (3) 5. Josh Higday 24 (6) 6. Curtis Thorson 10 (5) 7. Mike Houseman (9) 8. Davey Heskin 56x (8) 9. Nate Van Haaften 3 (10) 10. Alan Zoutte 33 (1)

Phillips led throughout on a narrow, heavy surface. On lap two contact between Zoutte and Higday sent Zoutte skyward in turn four. He was done for the night. The restart saw Phillips leading Smith, Kearney, Beaver and Thorson in the Wares 10. Kearney and Beaver were able to work by Smith in the final five circuits and gain A main transfers.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Stevie Walsh 20 (1*) 2. Frankie Heimbaugh 04 (2*) 3. Eric Jobe 23 (4*) 4. Brett Mather 54 (7*) 5. Stacey Alexander 126 (5) 6. Nate Mosher 22N (6) 7. Terry Alexander 77 (8) 8. Trevor Reynolds 1 (10) 9. Brett Golik 5G (3) 10. Tom Lenz 8L (9)

Walsh led the distance in the 7 lap, mostly single-file affair. Golik exited while running third. Lenz dropped out on lap five. Reynolds from Perth, Aust. was making his maiden Knoxville appearance.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Jake Peters 57x (2*) 2. Mitchell Alexander 6 (1*) 3. Dustin Selvage 7 (4*) 4. Dusty Zomer 1z (5*) 5. Josh Schneiderman 49 (6) 6. David Hall 51 (8) 7. Eddie Leavitt Jr. F4 (3) 8. Rusty Potter 3P (9) DNS - Bronson Maeschen 96 (7)

Peters was out of sight, almost from the beginning.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Larry Ball Jr. 5J (4*) 2. John Schulz 2 (3*) 3. Rob Edwards 22 (2*) 4. Troy Meyer 11m (5*) 5. Pete Crall 11 (8*) 6. Johnny Anderson 7a (7) 7. Mike Houseman Jr. Y5 (1) 8. Jerry Crabb 12x (6) 9. Eric Mason B29 (9)

Schulz took the early lead from row two after getting by Edwards. On lap two, Ball shot by him on the low side to secure the point for good. Anderson was slowed by some traffic early, and the fast surface didn't allow him time or room to move forward.

B main (started): 1. Smith (1) 2. Higday (2) 3. S. Alexander (4) 4. Anderson (6) / 5. Mosher (9) 6. D. Hall (5) 7. Houseman (8) 8. Schneiderman (3) 9. T. Alexander (10) 10. Thorson (7) 11. Heskin (14) 12. Mason (19) 13. Potter (15) 14. Crabb (16) 15. Van Haaften (17) 16. Lenz (20) 17. Maeschen (18) 18. Houseman Jr. (13) 19. Reynolds (11) 20. Leavitt (9) DNS - Golik, Zoutte

Smith led throughout despite several stoppages in the 10 lapper, and late challenges from Higday. The top four were set in the first couple of laps and didn't relinquish their transfer spots. Cautions included a lap one stoppage for Leavitt, a lap two caution for debris, and a lap four spin by Houseman Jr. Reynolds, Houseman Jr., Maeschen and Lenz all exited early.

A main (started): 1. Peters (6) 2. Kearney (5) 3. Zomer (14) 4. Schulz (2) 5. Beaver (4) 6. Ball (8) 7. Walsh (3) 8. Higday (18) 9. Phillips (7) 10. S. Alexander (19) 11. Crall (16) 12. Meyer (15) 13. Mather (11) 14. Anderson (20) 15. M. Alexander (9) 16. Jobe (10) 17. Edwards (13) 18. Selvage (12) 19. Heimbaugh (1) 20. Smith (17)

Heimbaugh led the first lap, before Peters took over for good and smoked the field. A lap three spin by M. Alexander, in turn two slowed the action as did a stop by Smith on lap nine. Heimbaugh was running second on the lap nine restart, when something appeared to break in the front end of the car, sending him into the turn two wall. The car stayed upright and he was uninjured, but done. The restart saw Peters leading Schulz, Kearney, Beaver, Walsh and a surging Zomer. Zomer would surge to third at the line, earning hard-charger honors. Peters win was enough to clinch the 2005 360 season title, his second in a row.
