Mom’s Rule Night, presented by Empire Fence, AM Contracting and Rotella’s was held at Eagle Raceway Saturday saw a gorgeous afternoon with 139 cars filling the pits.
There was one serious accident in the AM Contracting IMCA Stock Cars. The first lap saw Jeff Watts’ 66 do a barrel roll in the air after multiple cars got together coming out of turn 4. Jeff was not hurt, but he was towed back to the pits.
Next out onto the high-banked 1/3 mile was the Nebraska Septic IMCA Racesaver Sprints. Josh Riggins was first back to the flag stand in the 14J with Shayle Bade second in the 03, Daniel Nekolite’s 22D third and fourth place going to the 14T of Tyler Hendrickson. Bade passed Riggins for the lead on lap 6. Tyler Drueke put the #12 into fourth the next time around and moved up to third on lap 10 before passing Hendrickson for third on lap 11. Drueke continued to move forward, taking the second spot away from Riggins two laps later. Justin Bolte’s 17 scraped the turn 3 wall with 8 to go and ended up going end over end into turn 4. He wasn’t seriously injured. The Choose Cone lineup saw Bade, Drueke, Hendrickson and Adam Gullion’s 91 your top 4. Just 4 laps were left when Trefer Waller caught the wall in turn 3 at nearly the same spot as Bolte. He ended up flipping and coming to rest on his right side. He was not seriously injured. Adam Gullion got past Hendrickson for fourth 1 lap after the restart. Gullion passed Riggins on the final lap for third. Drueke failed to stick the slide job going into turn 4. Bade, Drueke, Gullion and Riggins were your top 4.
Shayle said “We were fastest in our hot lap session, won our heat and the feature so that was a win all around! The car felt great, but obviously I have to give the credit for that to my crew. My husband works really late so he doesn’t have time to do maintenance. Also, we have a 3 month-old baby and a 4 year-old son o it’s hard for me to get out there too so I owe a whole lot to Stu Snyder. He’s helped us out a lot of times. In the A Main I didn’t know if we were going to get it or not. We obviously started on the high side, but Roger went out before the race and tilled one line along the top and added some water making it super soupy but then we went out and packed it in for awhile. The track ended up beautiful. I personally like the high side. It wasn’t super on the wall so it turned out perfect. My car felt great up there and it couldn’t have turned out better. One that one restart I wasn’t aware that we were still doing Delaware restarts so I was out front and the rest of the field had to choose. The yellow light was still on when we were coming around, do I kept looking to my inside to see who was there. Then, all of a sudden it was the green flag! I’m just glad that Roger realized that the yellow lights were still on and recalled the restart. This couldn’t have been a better Mothers Day.” I asked her if she heard Tyler Drueke right behind her towards the end and she stated “I did! I was pooping my pants but I decided to hold it together and hope that it was a high track all of the way around the rest of the race. So if they were going to pass me it was going to have to beat me by trying to slide me. I knew that if I stayed up there in the moisture and didn’t miss my line I could hold them off. I never saw anyone beside me so I just had to hold my line. I’ll have to watch the replay.”
