Aaron Reutzel stole one from Mother Nature and Fremont Speedway tonight, winning his fourth NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline feature at the Track That Action Built and taking home $20,000.
Battling the rain, 40 cars checked in with Hank Davis, Sand Springs, OK, setting Capitol Custom Trailers Quick Time with an 11.998. He was just two tenths off the track record during his first visit to Fremont Speedway.
Reutzel repeated his success from Saturday night by winning Premier Planning heat race one. Cale Thomas won All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads heat race two. Kalib Henry won Adaptive One Calipers heat race three. Fremont regular TJ Michael won Bazell Race Fuels heat race four.
After spinning during Bazell Race Fuels heat four and finishing 7th, Tyler Courtney rallied to win the Tub O’Towels B-main. He transferred to the NAPA Auto Parts feature along with Cap Henry, Cole Macedo and Zane DeVault.
Reutzel continued his streak by winning the Level Utilities Dash, putting him on the pole of the feature.
As clouds moved in and threatened sprinkles, 26 cars pushed out for the 40-lap $20,000-to-win feature. Reutzel took the early lead and fended off defending All Star champion Kalib Henry, who finished second. As cautions kept the track clear for the leaders, the car to watch was Cole Macedo. Working his way through traffic, Macedo, who started 23rd, advanced 20 positions to finish third.
“It’s cool to get another,” Reutzel said of his 40th career All Star win. “It’s been a long time. In that short period of three years, we racked up a bunch of them. It’s cool to get back to Fremont. The track was pretty good tonight. We were struggling. We tried stuff all night. Running for points, we never really get to test and we tested a bunch of stuff tonight and nothing was really that good so we kind of went back to what we know. We were rushed there at the end, which was the right move by the All Stars, that I forgot to put some stuff back and under that open red I had them adjust the left rear shock and I was right back to being really good.”
Next up, the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline heads east to visit Michaels Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, May 23rd, and Wayne County Speedway on Sunday, May 24th. Both races are $7,500-to-win.
