Beautiful Angell Park Speedway was the venue for tonight’s open wheel showdown. It was also a visit to the venue that Ted Johnson began the 4-wide salute before the World of Outlaws were founded. The former midget driver from Madison, Wisconsin was celebrated during the night.
Bill Balog (5th car out to time) set quick time on a familiar track for him at 11.733 seconds. 10-lap heats took the top two to the Dash. The track never developed more than one lane, so any passing was done on the first lap. Torgerson slipped under Schuchart in turn one to grab the second Dash spot. Miller tripped over the inside berm in turn one and gave his fifth place run to Windom.

The 40-lapper never developed a real second line that is the norm at Angell Park. It also saw plenty of carnage, with only eleven cars finishing. Schatz got into the back of Watt in turn one and took a hard flip at the outset. He walked away. Williamson led Balog, Ca Macedo, Haudenschild and Bayston at the outset before Windom and Jedrzejek got together and spun two laps in. A chain reaction on the double-file restart saw Jedrzejek get the worst end of it,and take the hook back to the pits. On lap four, Gee got into the wall bringing caution again. Ca Macedo used the restart to shoot by Balog for second. Two laps later, Miller and Watt contacted in a battle for 11th, and both retired. Williamson led Ca Macedo, Balog, Haudenschild and Bayston back to green. Finally some laps were run, and Williamson was lapping cars by the 14th lap. Haudenschild got under Balog in turn four on lap 18 to take third and on lap 24, Co Macedo passed Bayston on the high side to gain the top five. Four laps later, he moved by Balog for fourth. Their battle continued into turn two when Co Macedo got a bit sideways and was tagged in the left front by Balog. Co Macedo retired. At the time, Williamson had a 2.25 second lead and the parties in Kingdom City were being planned, but Ca Macedo made quick work of him on the restart and took the lead. Haudenschild followed him into second with ten to go. Schuchart moved up into the top five with seven to go. With five laps to go, Williamson had something break on the car and it headed right into the turn four wall, getting upside down. He was ok. Ca Macedo had opened a 2.5 second lead and he maintained it the rest of the way, ahead of only eleven running cars. Julien was the hard-charger.
